Hope through Housing’s logo – a cluster of human figures shaded in green, orange, yellow, blue and gray – is more than just a design. Look closely, and you’ll find a home at its heart, formed by these interwoven figures.

For Danny Sciortino, National CORE’s senior director of branding and creative design, the logo is more than a clever illustration.

“It is my most prized design piece because it perfectly embodies Hope’s mission,” Danny said. “Most people don’t even notice the house in the middle, but it’s all intentional – it’s meant to show that community creates a home.”

Danny’s journey with National CORE began in 2008 when – as a freelancer – he created this iconic symbol. Drawn to the mission, he led National CORE and Hope through Housing’s design efforts for 15 years before making the leap to full-time employee in December 2023.

Then, as of now, Danny designs everything from brochures and ads to branded property materials and corporate wall installations, crafting pieces that keep National CORE, Hope through Housing and our third-party ventures visually consistent and impactful.

“With the rapid growth of National CORE and Hope through Housing, there is always something new happening,” Danny said. “All the pieces of the nonprofits are like our clients with different needs and requirements; it never feels stale.”

For his dedication to bringing the nonprofit’s vision to life in everything he produces, Danny was honored with the I Am Hope employee award for the third quarter.

Day to day, Danny collaborates closely with Jill Van Balen, National CORE’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, to realize the organization’s messaging visually.

“Danny reflects the vision of National CORE not only in his commitment to our mission, but in every graphic, logo and image he creates to help represent our mission. His inspired creations perfectly celebrate who we are and what we are trying to accomplish,” Jill said.

Congratulations, Danny!
