Hope through Housing and National CORE team members from across the nation gathered at the corporate office in September to revel in communal activities, tasty food and see their colleagues outside of a Zoom meeting during our penultimate CORE Week of the year!

CORE Week brought us together to connect, grow and enjoy some time with each other.

The week began with continental breakfast consisting of doughy bagels, flakey croissants and fresh fruit. On Tuesday, employees came together for an engaging training session aimed at developing practical skills to better support the vulnerable populations we serve. The event featured a keynote from Candace Barrett from We See You San Diego, who she shared her journey from addiction to recovery.

On Wednesday, team members enjoyed a two-hour session on American sign language provided by RISE Interpreting, the vendor that aids National CORE in serving our residents who are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

The week concluded with a townhall, where we got an update about the company’s status and an announcement of quarterly awards.

Ariana Brendle, vice president of acquisitions in Florida and Texas, presented four new properties coming down the pipeline in Florida and Texas.

Third quarter employee award-winners include:

  • Danny Sciortino, senior director of branding and creative design – I am Hope
  • Veronica Cooper, property manager at sunflower terrace apartments – Spirit and Enthusiasm
  • Melody Barrett, senior asset manager – Best in Class

And Senior Vice Presidents Chris Killian and Dorrie Bryan and presented the annual I am Hope Award to our very own John Taylor, vice president of construction.
