National CORE promotes affinity groups to provide employees with a safe space for building community and sharing perspectives. Groups range from One Voice, which represents African American staff members, to Health and Wellness, which promotes physical and mental health.

Here is the current roster of affinity groups:

One Voice: African/African American

Due to the social climate, injustices in our nation, and personal or shared experiences, there are a select few spaces minorities feel fully comfortable in their workspace. Understanding there are select spaces, One Voice strives to provide effective leadership and promote the well-being and safe spaces for staff of the African American diaspora. Also, we look to develop and promote social and educational programs that heighten cultural awareness, promote social responsibility, inspire leadership, and enhance community service and development.

SPECTRUM also seeks to advocate for equality and empathy in the workplace and in the familial sphere through education and internal/external community programming.

Disabilities Access Group

Disabilities Access Group acts as a source of information and training, not only for National CORE employees who interact with persons with disabilities, but also for National CORE employees that have disabilities. The affinity group provides training opportunities and experiences to educate and inform with the goal of increasing awareness, familiarization and de-stigmatization of persons with disabilities. Disabilities Access Group recognizes the unique existence and challenges of persons with disabilities as they navigate housing, employment and socio-economic status. Further, the group acknowledges that the term “disability” encompasses many different conditions/types, cultures and attitudes.

CORE Village: Parent’s Affinity Group

CORE Village was created to give a place for parents to know that they are not alone when it comes to the adventures, joys, struggles, etc. that comes with being a parent. There is no handbook, there is no “one shoe fits all.”  At times, parenting can feel very alone and often we forget to give ourselves grace in the process. In CORE Village, we share without judgment, we are transparent, we are helpful, we laugh, and we cry. Most importantly, we remind each other that we are not alone and deserve grace. Because it really takes a Village.
