A brightly colored mural planned for the Miraflores apartment community will celebrate the history and spirit of Orange County through vibrant images that include multicolored parrots, Native American basketry shaded in rich Earth tones and red-hot Anaheim peppers.
Developed by a local artist from neighborhood residents’ suggestions, the mural is the third to grace a recently developed National CORE community.
“Incorporating murals into affordable housing projects helps foster a sense of identity and belonging among residents,” said Cameron Shariati, a senior development manager.
Miraflores will open this summer with 86 beautiful homes for families and individuals earning below 60% of the area median income.
“This new mural will be a great way for people in the community to learn about affordable housing and to see how it could look beautiful, too,” said Iliana Romero, an Anaheim resident who provided feedback on the mural’s design.
