As National CORE’s Construction Contracts Supervisor, she works at breakneck speeds and regularly handles about $2 million in contracts each day before noon.
Not bad for someone who says she is largely fueled by nut-flavored coffee.
Based in Texas, Stephanie plays a key role in every community we build. She drafts and manages all Guaranteed Maximum Price contracts, subcontractor agreements, purchase orders and change orders – helping keep each development on track from the very beginning.
Without her, buildings wouldn’t get built and residents wouldn’t get housed, Senior Vice President of Construction Chris Killian said.
“Stephanie is very systematic in her approach to work,” Chris said. “It’s not the flashiest job, being in charge of documents and contracts, but you better believe it’s some of the most important work.”
Chris said Stephanie is National CORE’s first line of defense in protecting the company’s interests – working closely with multiple departments in the organization, she ensures that all contracts are accurate, complete and written in a way to minimize risk.
One of Stephanie’s most lasting contributions has been leading the Construction Department’s transition to digital contract systems. When she joined the team, contracts were still printed, faxed and signed by hand – a time-consuming process that created hundreds of paper copies per development.
With the papers piling up, Stephanie made the decision to pivot to digital contracts using Procore software. It completely streamlined documentation creation, retrieval and sharing – and the projects they powered.
“Stephanie took an antiquated, paper-intensive system and got everyone onboard to make the change to digital. She created careful systems across multiple departments at National CORE and with our partners,” Chris said. “She really made us incredibly more efficient.”
Travis Haskin, National CORE’s vice president of estimating, said Stephanie is the Construction Department’s safety net – she keeps items moving and watches the team’s backs to make sure developments stay on schedule.
“Stephanie is the constant who is grinding away for us,” Travis said. “She’s the lifeblood of the paperwork and contracts behind everything the Construction Department does.”
As the number of developments continue to grow across Texas and Florida, Stephanie remains a quiet but powerful presence, ensuring every detail is in place so the work can move forward.
Chris and Travis both describe her as the department’s best kept secret – someone whose consistent effort has made a lasting mark on how the team operates.
For Stephanie, the reward comes in knowing her work is helping thousands of people find a place to call home.
“I’m very proud of the work that we do at National CORE and I’m happy to do my part,” Stephanie said. “I don’t have much direct contact with the residents, but I still feel like I’m contributing in a major way.”
