Meghan Barnett is one of National CORE’s rising stars! She is relentless in her efforts to help others – distinguishing herself by providing support when communities receive an influx of applications, training dozens of employees and ensuring that residents are housed and happy.
Meghan was recognized with the 2023 Assistant Community Management Professional Award by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) during the organization’s annual gala on Oct. 27. IREM is an international community of real estate managers dedicated to promoting the highest ethical business practices of investment real estate management.
Meghan’s exemplary work is indicative of National CORE’s mission to provide best-in-class service at all of our communities – ensuring operational efficiencies and outstanding customer service.
“I don’t come to work just to work,” Meghan said. “I come to work to help people.”
In March of 2022, Meghan joined National CORE as a leasing consultant, was quickly promoted to assistant manager, and now serves as a roving affordable file specialist. She has become part of National CORE’s recently created property management Strike Team – aiding communities with resident application re-certification, verifying resident assets and income statements and ensuring that communities retain their federal funding through Affordable Housing and Tax Credit program requirements.
Meghan said that she has loved every minute at National CORE because her work keeps formerly homeless individuals and low-income families housed and safe while transforming communities. She added that National CORE has provided her with the support she has needed at every juncture of her career – whether it’s training, mentorship or job growth.
“National CORE, for me, has always been more than just a great career: it’s also helping people and giving back to many communities,” Meghan said. “I hope I can continue making my colleagues and the organization proud of me and show them that I am worthy of this award.”
Meghan was nominated for the IREM award by several National CORE employees, including her mentor, Regional Property Manager Alma Minser. Alma said she is proud of Meghan’s accomplishments, including how she obtained her Housing and Urban Development and Tax Credit certifications. Meghan has all the qualities of a quintessential National CORE property management employee: she is supportive, hardworking, energetic and forward-thinking.
Alma also noted that Meghan is the only employee she knows who has completely read the massive Housing and Urban Development 4350.3 handbook.
“Meghan is not just an asset to National CORE; she is a rock star!” Alma said. “Meghan is always eager to show her co-workers how to make their jobs easier by introducing them to new and useful information. I truly appreciate her drive, eagerness and the goals she has set for herself to better her career path.”
