In recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrated on Oct. 9, National CORE Vice President Tony Mize shared his descent from two Native American tribes, the Osage Nation and the Quapaw Nation, also known as the O Gah Pah, or the Downstream People.
Mize’s great- great grand-grandmother was a child of both tribes. Her father was the last hereditary principal chief of the Quapaw, and his father preceded him as hereditary principal chief.
He shared that a new movie, “Killers of the Flower Moon,” documents crimes against the Osage after oil was discovered on Osage land.
