National CORE’s marketing team has a simple charge with many complex layers.

The simple: Champion the mission and goals of National CORE.

The complex: Doing so on our websites, newsletters, media releases, social media networks, in video and photos and at events while using the most effective tools available to strengthen our brand, elevate our reputation and promote an array of business programs.

“At heart, we are storytellers,” Marketing and Communications Senior Vice President Jill Van Balen said. “And the story we tell is how National CORE and Hope through Housing are transforming the lives of our residents and reinventing the future of affordable housing.”

In telling those stories, the team focuses on the five pillars of National CORE: Innovative, Nationally Recognized Leaders, Community Focused, Unparalleled Expertise and Transformative. Team members collaborate with other National CORE departments and with Hope through Housing staff to discover the stories that illustrate the values embodied by the pillars.

The team is also charged with protecting the organization’s reputation. This includes helping to document our construction process through drone photographer and time-lapse photography, as well as responding to online reviews and resident concerns.

The team’s latest initiatives include forming a speakers bureau to position National CORE as a thought leader in the industry, creating a ticketing system to keep up with the growing demands for marketing materials and exploring the use of AI to expand capacity for generating content.

Along with the expansion of National CORE, the marketing team has also grown. Each team member has a set of key overlapping responsibilities designed to ensure all company objectives are supported:
